Why Virgin Hair Needs Olaplex

Clients with never before colored or chemically treated hair are the unicorn of salon clients. In a bustling salon, you can almost hear a clip drop at the sound of “virgin hair.” Most would assume this is the healthiest hair of all. In theory it should be, it avoids all the processes that would lead to damage; coloring, lifting, texture changes. However, though these chemical processes have been known to damage hair in the past, Olaplex has helped even the most processed of manes look unicorn worthy. Virgin hair may need more love than you think and we’re going to tell you why.

In-salon chemical processes may seem like the only way to damage your hair, however, it is more likely a client does more damage to their hair at home. Let’s talk about heat. We’re not talking about summer next month, we’re referring to the heat tools you use at home. Flat irons, blow dryers, and curling irons are some of the leading ways virgin (and processed) hair becomes compromised.  Think of your day to day or even weekly hair routine. How many times are you applying heat to your hair? If the answer is once or more, you are breaking disulfide bonds in your hair each and every time.

Speaking of summer, you know all of that fun under the sun you’ll be having with salt water and chlorine? You guessed it, just another way unprocessed hair can become muddled and damaged. The sun alone is heat applied to your hair, whether you notice it or not. An entire day under the sun can mean weaker locks by the end of the season. There are also those seemingly insignificant acts at home that can lead to breakage, like brushing your hair, detangling, sleeping on the wrong kind of pillowcase, or even the type of water running through your pipes.

These factors aren’t meant to frighten you or keep you from living your best hair life, they’re meant to show you that even the least processed mane can be healthier. This also goes out to hairdressers coloring or changing the texture of a virgin-haired client. Many stylists assume they don’t need insurance when coloring virgin hair because it’s already healthy. Think of all the methods for damage above that lead to damage to virgin hair, then think of the damage that will occur after putting chemicals on that hair for the first time. Every head of hair needs Olaplex whether it’s been colored 50 times or not at all. All hair can benefit from being the best it can be, the healthiest it can be, and the strongest. Olaplex is here to make sure of that.
