Part 2: Your Hair Was Pushed Too Far, Now What? (Moisture, Protein?)

As part 2 of the Olaplex Recovery Guide, we’re going to let you know all about moisture and protein needs. These two are important to the overall quality of the hair. As learned in our previous post, Olaplex rebuilds the broken disulfide bonds in the hair, creating stronger, more resilient hair. However, it does not address moisture and protein, which both contribute to the health of your hair.

How do you know if you need to do moisture and/or protein treatments?

First, perform a strand test by taking a strand of your hair and wetting it with water. Give it a light stretch and observe whether it returns to it’s normal length without breaking. If it stretches too far and breaks, chances are your hair is in need of protein. If your hair doesn’t stretch– most likely it’s in need of moisture! More on that in a minute.

For protein, use a treatment that works best for your hair type. Consider consulting with your stylist to find the protein treatment that’s right for you.
